Eden Project Pathway Pergola

Not sure if this could actually be called a pergola, technically why not. What we found attractive was it's use of rough hewn almost natural wood posts, not so straight and even. Would make a nice juxtaposition to the more geometric grid which would be required to have solar PV on top.

The Eden Project is a botanical garden in Cornwall England. It had been an old clay pit crater which had been in use for 160 some odd years but largely abandoned. It did serve as television set for the BBC for Hitchhikers Guide. It's transformation in to a botanical garden was a number of years in the planning, first opening in 2000. Please visit their website to learn all about the project and purpose.

Solar PV On Toppila Power Plant

The Toppila Power plant in Finland is a steam power plant that burns peat, interesting enough. But, for our purposes, we’re more interested in the giant wall of vertical solar panels covering one façade of the building. 825 solar panels provide a capacity of 270 kilowatts. We’re posting this as an example of BIPV vertical solar installations.

Read the very tiny entry on the plat at Wikipedia, also photo credit.
